How to make SOFT LIGHT by Jake Mumm

I recently started doing more studio work, so I bought the biggest (but also reasonably priced) softbox that I could find. It’s the Neewer 55” beehive octagon softbox, on Amazon for $51.99.

I was very impressed with the quality of the Neewer softbox, especially for the price. It’s made of a faux leather exterior with reflective foil interior. It has both and inner and outer diffuser, and does diffuse the light very well. It also has a grid that can velcro on and off very easily. It definitely seems built to last, and was very easy to set up.

To mount it I also bought a Neewer 10 ft adjustable reflector stand for $127.94. This is a great combo because the large soft box needs a big heavy stand to hold it up, and this one is 100% metal. It also gets you the height you need for these shots. I shoot primarily with a Fuji X-Pro2 so I also use a Godox XPro-F flash trigger and Godox V860IIF Speedlite in the softbox.

Here are some of my favorite pictures that I got with this setup.
